Hybrid or
Utility Clubs are a blending of woods and irons.
They are much easer to hit than long irons and for most
player produce better distance control. They are normally
referenced by the degree of loft. I have seen heads
with as little as 13° of loft to as much as 39°.
I removed my 3,4 and 5 irons and 5 wood from my bag and
replaced them with 3 hybrids 19°, 23°and 27°. |

Almost every shaft
manufacturer has a hybrid shaft. Here are 3, Aldila Gamer, UST
Irod, and the Grafalloy Pro Launch. Most of these shafts
are medium torque and heaver than a standard wood shaft at 80
- 85 grams.
The cost of a Hybrid Club will vary with head and
shaft selected with prices ranging between $75.00 for steel and
$130.00 for graphite.
